| Annual Nursing Student Cultural Program May 24-26, 2011 Every year in the last 9 years, a group of nursing and medical students from around central Wisconsin came to HMAA's Hmong Community Center to learn about Hmong culture and their view on American medical practices. The program was organized by Northeastern WI Area Health Education Center. This year there were 12 students who participated in the three day program. Presenters included Ka Yang, our Family Case Manager, local Hmong patients, and a Hmong breast cancer survivor. |
| HMAA and Literacy Council Tutoring Program In cooperation with the Sheboygan County Literacy Council, HMAA is able to provide one-to-one English tutoring to about 7 Hmong adults who want to improve their English skills. Individual student along with their perspective volunteer tutor are meeting regularly at the Hmong Community Center once a week and some twice a week. This is a partnership effort between the HMAA and Literacy Council to improve adult literacy in the Hmong Community. |
